MOLUNAT
Molunat is a settlement on the very south of Croatian Adriatic
coast, 40 km distance from Dubrovnik and 20 km from Dubrovnik airport, connected with them by two parallel roads that pass through vast field and picturesque villages of Konavle.
Sea distance from Dubrovnik to Molunat is 18 n/m and from Cavtat 12 n/m. Molunat disposes only of private accommodation in family homes and apartments and with camping places. There is post office, bus
connection 4 times a day to Dubrovnik, grocery shop with fresh fruit and vegetables, one restaurant, 2 coffee shops, diving club and fishermen companies, pier and mooring place. The name Molunat comes from
Ilyrian and Greek name
for a harbour – molos, signifying two ancient well protected ports of big and small Molunat, and the existence of old settlement confirm the archaeological sites on field and under water, town walls and fortifications.
Molunat is a beautiful landscape which together with climate enabled the growth of this, once fisherman's, seafarers and farmers village that developed into touristic resort. Molunat is ecologically
protected area with numerous sorts of medicinal herbs, it is a vast area with exciting coast line, sandbanks,
peninsulas and two islands, with Christal clear sea and abundance of fish. The big island and the peninsula are wooded with macchia, cypress and pine groves. Because of the shape of coastal configuration the
climate is very mild, Mediterranean. During winter daily temperatures often surpasses 12 oC, summers are hot but refreshed with afternoon wind mistral. Southern winds and
wet autumnal seasons create dramatic and exciting scenes of the collision of sea waves against rocky coast.
